Your Galveston County Museum is working to rebuild itself in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. The current members of the Galveston County Commissioners' Court have made the former Courthouse Jury Assembly Room available for the Museum's new exhibit hall. Plans are in the works to utilize the many artifacts showing the citizenry of the county as it progressed from a small port/farming area to a boomtown and the many changes brought about by hurricanes. The new exhibits are being designed using the latest technology and ideas in the museum world and from local talent.

Due to Hurricane Ike, the offices and collections of the Galveston County Museum and the Galveston County Historical Commission have moved to the County Courthouse located at 722 Moody. Although the museum currently has no exhibits for the public to view, we are open to accept donations to our historical artifact collection and to assist with research and other inquiries.

During our rebuilding phase, you can still view the museum’s collection in several ways, including:

  • The South Jetty Lighthouse lens and multimedia kiosk located in the lobby of the Galveston County Courthouse at 722 Moody Ave.
