Flood Control Berm Finished
KB Home completes Mtns Edge work
KB Home has completed reinforcements to an existing flood channel and berm that failed last summer in a Mountain's Edge development off Fort Apache Road. On July 31, 2019, substantial rainfall resulted in hours of runoff from the Upper Duck Creek Detention Basin upstream of the neighborhood.
The waters were too much for a temporary berm structure channeling the waters into existing flood control storm drains. Fitzwilliam Avenue saw the brunt of the flooding.
Clark County worked with KB Home, which is completing an adjacent subdivision, to reinforce the existing berm and create a more resilient, rock-lined channel leading to the storm drain.
The work was completed in a timely manner, offering protection to the neighborhood before this year's Flash Flood season.
